Our Projects

Growing Plants for Health

Malnutrition exists in rural areas in the Pastaza region where access to nutrient-dense foods are limited. Even though the Amazon is full of biodiversity, other resources are needed to cultivate and harvest the most viable crops in polyculture gardens known as chacras.

Funding Education

The budget needed for a rural Ecuadorian child to have access and resources to education includes the cost of uniforms, school supplies, matriculation fees, and transportation to the nearest school. This total is usually outside the means of an indigenous family, but thanks to our donors we were able to help facilitate education for 30 children this past August.

Knowledge Exchange

The educational arm of Sasi Muskuí Runa will work with students and educators in learning-circle groups to promote language exchange and cross-cultural learning experiences about current events and farming practices in South America.

Save Block 28

Sections of ancestral land are being auctioned off and bought by petrol companies with the intentions of drilling oil. These blocks host almost 70% of the Amazon rainforest that is situated in Ecuador’s borders. An area designated as Block 28 is now being appropriated and, if they succeed, the drilling will contaminate three major river networks that would harm the indigenous and the Amazon.
